Cormick Scanlan was a sophomore at Cretine-Derham Hall. The St Paul Capitals hockey Association took to its Facebook and wrote, “Our hockey community has lost a great young man. Cormick Scanlan died peacefully and surrounded by family.” He was hospitalized after he suffered a stroke on Dec 6, 2022. He spent a couple of weeks at a hospital and also underwent surgery in an attempt to save his life but could not. Cormick Scanlan was diagnosed with moyamoya disease. Cormick Scanlan’s coach named Derek Weinke told KMSP-TV, “This is a kid who lived what we talk about every day. The values of selflessness, of hard work, integrity… these are all things that this young man had.” And his club wrote, “He had bypass surgery on Thursday the 15th to repair the left side carotid artery with blood vessels from his head. Sadly, he suffered additional strokes thereafter,” Despite countless prayers and wishes, the young Minnesota hockey player could not be revived.
