On Monday, a lady from a nearby area was given a sentence of ten years in prison for pouring boiling water on her lover while he was sleeping. Alexis Sykes, 23, from Roselle, was seen on film on January 2 throwing boiling water on her partner at the apartment that they share. The footage was released on Snapchat.
As the buddy of the victim recalled watching the victim’s skin slip off his arms after the attack, Sykes hid the victim’s car keys from him after the assault.
The friend eventually obtained the keys and drove himself to the local hospital. Shortly after arriving there, he was transported to the burn unit at Loyola University Medical Center, where he remained for about two weeks. Following the event, Sykes was unable to be located and was eventually taken into custody on January 19 in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi.
On February 2nd, her bond was established at $500,000. Since then, Sykes has been kept in custody at the DuPage County Jail. On Monday morning, Sykes gave his consent to counting the cells of the corrosive complex. Before she can be considered for parole, she must first serve 85 percent of the time she was sentenced to.
Prosecutors announced on Tuesday that an Illinois woman is being investigated for allegedly disturbing the peace of her sleeping partner by pouring a jug of boiling water over him and then posting the unsettling aftermath on social media. The DuPage County Attorney’s Office said on January 2 that Alexis Sykes was charged with committing heinous crimes at the residence in Roselle, Illinois, that she shared with her partner.
When Sykes’ partner accidentally burned himself with hot water, he was dozing off on the couch at the time. According to the allegations made by the authorities, Sykes did nothing to aid and instead recorded the terrible conduct on camera and uploaded it on Snapchat.
“I’m feeling kind of bad right now because he has 2nd and 3rd degree burns from his face to his waist and they threw him in the center of the burn but oh well (emoji shrugging) BH (emoji kissing) and crying all the time.” “I’m feeling kind of bad right now because he has 2nd and 3rd degree burns from his face to his waist and they threw him in the center of the burn.” According to reports, she added in the caption of the video, “Let me drive him to the hospital.” When the woman, now 22 years old, allegedly noticed her boyfriend’s flesh peeling off her arm, prosecutors say she concealed her boyfriend’s car keys and tried to cover her tracks.
The companion was able to grab a hold of the keys, drove to the Loyola University Medical Center, and was eventually admitted to the burn unit, where he underwent skin grafting procedures. The district attorney’s office did not offer any explanation for what led up to the incident. On January 19, Sykes was taken into custody in Mississippi and then extradited to Illinois, where he is being held on accusations of aggravated assault with a caustic substance and aggravated domestic abuse.
According to Robert Berlin, the DuPage County Attorney, “the charges that have been made against Ms. Sykes are highly alarming.” “Dousing a sleeping man with boiling water, as is alleged in this case, causing terrible and disturbing injury, will be prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law,” said the prosecutor. “This case will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.”
