The nominations for the prestigious BRIT Awards 2024 have been announced, and it’s exciting news for music fans across the African continent. Two of Africa’s biggest music stars, Burna Boy and Asake, have been nominated for the much-coveted International Artist of the Year award.
The competition is fierce, as they are up against some of the biggest names in the music industry, such as Taylor Swift, Kylie Minogue, SZA and Lana Del Rey.
In addition to that, Rema has been nominated for the International Song of the Year category for his hit single “Calm Down”. South African singer Tyla’s viral song “Water” has also been nominated in the same category. Furthermore, Cameroon-American singer Libianca has received a nomination for her breakthrough song “People”.
This year’s BRIT Awards is giving the public a chance to vote for the winners of the genre categories on Instagram, so this is the perfect opportunity for African music fans to show their support for their favourite artists.
