Mentor High School Lockdown: Mentor Police Department are responding to Mentor High School in Ohio on Thursday
UPDATE: After being placed on lockdown on Thursday afternoon, December 15th, 2022, Mentor High School is now being treated as having received the “all clear” designation from authorities. It has been determined by Mentor Public Schools and the city of Mentor that the lockdown was triggered by the activation of an emergency notification alert alarm. The lockdown was carried out out of an abundance of caution; nonetheless, there was no evidence of a threat.
Mentor school officials’ message
After the all-clear was given, Mentor school officials wrote in a message to parents and the community that “We know this was a scary situation for many students, parents, guardians, and staff. School safety is our top priority and we will always take all concerns very seriously.” School officials add that they will be investigating how the phone alarm was triggered.
After confirming the lockdown in a post on Twitter, Mentor Public Schools wrote in its lockdown message that “An emergency notification alert alarm from our phone system went off in the building and we are currently searching the school with Mentor Police trying to determine where it came from. “At this point, we have NOT found an emergency situation.”
PREVIOUSLY: Mentor High School Lockdown, OHIO – Multiple police officers in Ohio are responding to a situation at a high school campus today, Thursday, December 15th, 2022. According to sources, officers from the Mentor Police Department were dispatched to the Mentor High School campus located at 6477 Center St, Mentor, Ohio. Mentor city officials have confirmed that Mentor High School is currently on lockdown in an announcement on Facebook. In a Facebook post, the city said the lockdown is due to “precautionary purposes.”
According to the city, police officers are on the scene of the high school to learn more about the situation. City of Mentor, Ohio – Municipal Government wrote “Mentor High School is currently in lockdown for precautionary purposes. Mentor Police are on scene sweeping the property along with school officials to determine the cause of the alarm. More info to come.”
Mentor High School is a public high school located in Mentor, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Mentor Exempted Village School District. At one time, it was the largest high school in Ohio based on single-building enrollment.
