The bus crashed in the Mzimba district with the registration number SA 10038 was a Paniche Logistic bus, carrying a total of 58 passengers. Reportedly, the Paniche Logistic bus was heading toward Mzuzu from Lilongwe. Police identified the bus driver as Duncan Ngwende who lost control of the bus and crashed the bus.
