Nigerian singer Teni Apata has honored her late father, Brigadier-General Simeon Apata, on the 30th anniversary of his passing.
Teni shared that her father was tragically assassinated on January 8, 1995, right in front of their home, with his wife and children witnessing the event.
In a heartfelt post, Teni posted a collage of photos and a video celebrating her father’s legacy. She described him as a hero feared by armed robbers, having eliminated many before his untimely demise.
Teni also included a photo of her father’s three wives, whom she lovingly called “sisters” from different regions of Nigeria. The wives, Gladys Ify from Delta state, Margaret Olayinka from Ekiti state, and Margaret Folajogun from Ondo state, granted an interview to Gregory Austin Nwakunor, where they discussed the profound impact of their husband’s death on their lives.
The singer highlighted one of her father’s lasting legacies: the Apata Memorial Nursery/Primary and Secondary School, which features both day and boarding facilities.
Marking his death anniversary, Teni, who has been open about her weight loss journey, also shared a side-by-side photo of herself and her late father, showcasing their striking resemblance.
In the post, Teni’s sister, singer Niniola, offered words of comfort, encouraging Teni to look into the mirror and see their father’s reflection. Teni expressed her gratitude for her sister’s words, noting their profound impact on her.
